2009 Suggestion Winners

  • Carol Brooks - When Sprint phones get turned back into I.S. for upgrades, participate in Sprint's Buy Back Program instead of surplusing them
  • Darrell Cope - At Muddy Creek Wastewater Treatment plant, install perforated metal on the bottom of the dumpster box to let the water drain out. It will lighten the box and cost less to dispose of.
  • Rodney Darr - During the planned generator upgrade scheduled for Neilson, Engineers were planning on renting a generator as backup power during the 6 month construction. Cost for renting the generator was around $60,000. The suggestion was to rotate the existing Thomas/Neilson generators, already on site into position close to the existing Neilson switch gear, reducing the rental.
  • Myra Greene - Install sensors on the odor scrubber recirculation pumps at the Elledge Wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • Linda Harrison - Change the Direct Deposit forms to be more user friendly.
  • Daniel Hartley - At the Eledge Plant, put bird netting from the large doors to the floor to keep the birds out of the generator and boiler room
  • Rockey Hauser - have steps installed on the new generator at the 65 west pump station for safety purposes
  • Anne Heimel - Build steps and a railing going down to the NPDES collection site at the Northwest Water Treatment Plant
  • Ron Hilton - put the bay lights on a timer at the Elledge Wastewater Plant, so lights will burn as needed instead of 24 hours a day
  • Brenda Holmes - put non-skid strips on the stairs in the Church Street parking deck
  • Bobby McMannen -
    • Have Central Warehouse buy refills for first aid kits so items can be replenished from the kits as needed.
    • Use a float and rod assembly to support a readable "target"for instrumentation sensors
  • Norman Mitchell - at the Public Safety Center, change to a card system (instead of key lock system) for entrance at Oak and 8th
  • Mike Nelson - Store unused fuel from vehicles that are going to auction in a tank for off road vehicles to use. Note: fuel isn't stored in a tank, but because of this suggestion departments that have vehicles that are going to be auctioned off are notified to not re-fuel.
  • Virginia Nergart - Cover end of 2-milliliter SPANDS plastic tubing of Repipet, Jr. in Neilson laboratory with paint to protect tube from light exposure
  • Bobbie Russell - Install bio-hazard disposals in bathrooms for insulin needles
  • Cynthia Skaggs - Put a crosswalk on Cherry St. going from the parking lot across from the Public Safety Center to the PSC. Note: crosswalk wasn't put there, but because of her suggestion DOT put up signs warning motorists of pedestrians.
  • Yolanda Taylor - Put non-skid mats at the north entrance of City Hall.
  • Alan Temple - Post on website when the flag on City Hall is at half-staff.
