Public Education

Public Education services

The Winston-Salem Fire Department provides community outreach through its Public Education program.  Residents may request on-duty fire department personnel to come out to various events to provide fire and life safety information, fire prevention education, training and community engagement.

The Public Education program includes such requests as visits to local schools, community events, special population groups, fire extinguisher training, and Hands-Only CPR sessions. Residents may also schedule a visit to one of our fire stations. To request a Public Education program, click the Public Education Request tab.

Community Risk Reduction services

The Winston-Salem Fire Department also provides programs and services to help reduce risk of fire and life threatening hazards. Our Community Risk Reduction programs include assistance with smoke alarm installation, hard of hearing smoke alarms, stove top fire suppression canisters, courtesy home evaluations, and monthly child passenger seat checks.
