Events and Programs

Picture of the musical stage during a special event at BethabaraFrom April to December, Historic Bethabara Park celebrates each season with a special event rooted in its history. Traditional celebrations to look forward to every year include Spring Festival in April, Highland Games in May, Music in the Palisades during the summer, Apple Festival and Dark in the Park in October, Founders Day in November, and Christmas events in December.

Spring

In April, join us for an opening celebration, Spring Festival (CANCELED in 2021), with fun and games for the whole family, including a maypole, scavenger hunt, planting activities, crafts, music, and more! In May, join us for our annual Highland Games (CANCELED in 2021), a celebration of the Scots-Irish settlers who traded with the Bethabara Moravians and sought protection inside the palisade fort during the Cherokee War.

Summer

Sponsored by Lumpy’s Ice Cream! From June through September, enjoy free outdoor concerts in our Music in the Palisades concert series! Along with great live music, enjoy 25 cent vanilla ice cream cones and other amazing flavors from Lumpy’s Ice Cream, Dino’s hot dogs, hay rides, and colonial games.

Fall

Sponsored by Mast General Store! Dark in the Park at Historic Bethabara Park is a fun kid-friendly event with haunted tours, hayrides, costumes, candy, and fun and games. Our biggest event, Apple Festival, is sponsored by All American Gutter Protection and Reece Builders. Apple Festival is a celebration of all things autumn, agriculture, and apples. Shop from local craftsmen while enjoying food, drink, and sweets all celebrating the apple!

Holidays

Looking for holiday events for the whole family? Christmas at Bethabara will immerse you in Moravian holiday traditions by candlelight.

Because of the large number of people attending special events, we encourage participants to leave their pets at home. Please bring your pets to enjoy the park on other days.
