Our Mission

The Piedmont Emergency Animal Response Team is committed to coordinating an effective animal response prior to, during and after emergencies and disasters.

Goals

  • To safely and humanely assist animals, their caretakers and local response agencies and organizations before, during and after emergencies and disasters by utilizing the core principals of the National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command Structure (ICS) that was developed by FEMA.
  • To provide appropriate and required training that supports PE ART’s Mission.
  • To conduct public outreach in order to promote pet and animal preparedness within the community and to recruit PE ART volunteers.

In Forsyth County please call Forsyth County Sherriff’s Office non-emergency number for animal issues (entrapment, neglect, nuisance, injuries, aggressive behavior, strays, etc.) at 336-727-2112.

If you have a small animal (a pet) or a larger animal and have needs for assistance in Forsyth County, please contact the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Animal Service Division. They provide services to citizens of Forsyth County in reference to responsible pet ownership. The Animal Service Officers enforce NC State law and Forsyth County Ordinances related to animal welfare, cruelty, neglect, rabies enforcement, and licensing. They also partner with multiple animal welfare groups to make sure our furry friends are happy and safe.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Animal Service Division is located at 5570 Sturmer Park Cir. Winston-Salem, NC 27105 in the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. The shelter is open Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 am until 6:00 pm, closed Sunday, Monday and holidays. The administrative offices can be reached by calling 336-703-2480, option 1 during normal business hours. You can also contact us through email at animalservices@fcso.us for animal related complaints or problems, our dispatch center is available 24/7 by calling 336-727-2112.
