Flooding

Water can be a deadly force of nature, so you need to be prepared for a flood. Even if the floodplain maps show you’re at a low risk, it can flood anywhere it rains. If the maps show you are in a high-risk area for flooding, you have a much higher chance to experience property damage or loss of life.

Forsyth County can receive several inches of rain in a short amount of time from storm systems. Our flooding is normally the result of a larger event such as a hurricane, tornado, high-wind event or nor’easter, but flooding can also be caused by a “typical” spring rain or summer thunderstorm.
