The Story of Sparky the Fire DogUse a fun story about Sparky to teach kids about the elements of a story and how to analyze literature. (Meets CCSS Standards for 1st and 2nd grade.) 

What-a-Character-Lesson-Plan - Teach your students about character traits while they learn how to stay fire safe. (Meets CCSS Standards for 1st and 2nd grade.) 

Smoke Alarm Sounds Lesson Plan - Show your students proper punctuation along with the proper reaction to the “beep, beep, beep” of a smoke alarm. (Meets CCSS Standards for 1st and 2nd grade.) 

Data, Data Everywhere Lesson Plan (Grades 2-3) - Using a data collecting activity, students will work in pairs to learn the concept of recording data and create bar graphs, using information they gather from the “What’s that Sound” music video by Recess Monkey.

RESOURCES FOR OPERATIONS PERSONNEL/FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY EDUCATORS

NFPA's ten-minute mini lesson plans are a beneficial resource for firefighters and fire and life safety educators that support our department’s goal of consistent messaging across our communities. The lesson plans are tailored to specific audiences - from worship services to service club meetings.
