Economic Diversity

Economic vitality and diversity requires a healthy local economy that serves all segments of the population and provides the monetary resources necessary to support the community. This includes sustaining a tax base sufficient to fund community services, providing members of the community with sufficient wages, and providing capital for community development.

Measure Description: Number of vendors who self-certify as a minority or woman-owned firm on the city's database as defined by the number of new vendor registration confirmations.

Measure Description: Number of community events attended by M/WBE staff or where attendees receive information about BIA services as defined by the number of workshops, seminars, networking events, tabling, etc.

Measure Description: Number of small businesses provided information related to creating, opening, and/or operating a business. May include information related to doing business with the City, financial assistance, or liaison services. Includes both M/WBE and Business Development divisions.

Measure Description: Value of public investment through the BIA financial assistance programs to commercial/industrial property owners (RUCA and Building Rehabilitation Programs) and to business owners (Small Business Loan Program).

Measure Description: Measures the percentage of active projects meeting at least 90% of job creation goals (number of jobs created) as outlined in the economic development agreement.

Measure Description: Percentage of Purchase Order Construction & Repair dollar spending with MWBE firms divided by total spending.

Measure Description: Percentage of Purchase Order Goods & Services dollar spending with M\WBE firms divided by total spending.

Measure Description: Percentage of overall City purchasing car spending with MWBE firms divided by total spending.

Measure Description: Number of businesses/entrepreneurs assisted who receive BIA technical assistance or information on financial assistance programs that are located within the footprint of the Neighborhood Strategy Area or Revitalizing Urban Commercial Area.
