A healthy environment ensures the places we live, work, and play are safe and conducive to overall good health. It includes such traditional measures as air and water quality, waste reduction and disposal, and policies that sustain our environment.

Measure Description: The number of grading (i.e. land disturbing) permits issued for site development.

Measure Description: The number of new and redevelopment post-construction stormwater management project plans reviewed by Stormwater Engineer.

Measure Description: The number of water quality samples collected by Stormwater staff & analyzed by a NC-certified laboratory. Water samples are obtained from streams, lakes, & SCMs for determining pollutant loads to the surface waters. Total number of samples encompasses both TMDL and Water Quality Monitoring Programs.

Measure Description: The number of illicit discharges/dumping occurrences permanently eliminated from the city's stormwater collection system or receiving waters within 30 working days of first knowledge.

Measure Description: The number of Floodplain Development Permits issued for site development in regulated floodplain areas.

Measure Description: The number of Watershed Protection Permits issued for site development in water supply watershed areas.
