Bethabara Road Culvert

Bethabara Road Culvert Replacement

Stormwater Capital Improvement Project

Project Update

January 2024:    The project’s design is ongoing with the final plan development submittal anticipated in March of 2024The road currently remains closed to traffic.

About the Project

The City was notified about a sinkhole forming under the sidewalk adjacent to the large culvert structureAfter investigation, it was determined that a sinkhole had formed at the headwall around the structure. The stone headwall had severe cracking and was separating from the culvert pipe. A culvert condition inspection and assessment recommended replacement of the aging infrastructure. This project will replace the existing metal culvert structure with a larger structural arch metal box culvert. Other road improvements such as pavement, concrete curb and sidewalk will be repaired and restored as part of the projectThe project will also install guardrail for safety and repair other affected public infrastructure such as utilities.
