2020 Wellness Requirements Update (Updated 5-29-2020)

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we know that many providers have cancelled patient appointments and/or rescheduled appointments for later dates in the year. We also understand that there are still various restrictions in place that make rescheduling biometrics and patient appointments difficult.

Therefore, we will not require employees to complete physical/preventive care exams, biometrics, or tobacco cessation classes in order to receive the $50 monthly wellness discount for the 2021 Plan Year. However, we will still require all retirees to complete the following:

  1. Wellbeing Assessment (Health Risk Assessment or HRA) – Complete by going to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) website www.bcbsnc.com and log into your account.
  • Click on Wellness at the top of the page
  • Click on Wellbeing Assessment from left panel
  • Click on the Take the Wellbeing Assessment button
  • Answer the questions
  • Review and print your results for your records

2. Wellness Class – If you haven’t completed your wellness class and are looking for a class to take, you can log into your BCBSNC account at www.bcbsnc.com and participate in one of the online wellness activities. The online wellness activities that count for credit include:

  • Healthy Living Conversations,
  • Monthly seminars, and
  • Virtual coaching programs.

(Note: Library articles and videos on the BCBSNC website do not count for wellness credit.)

3. Case Management/Condition Care Management - If contacted by a case manager or condition care coach, employees must participate to continue to be eligible for the wellness program. These programs help employees with chronic or serious medical conditions to better manage their health conditions, thereby promoting healthy outcomes.

Remember these requirements must still be met by September 30, 2020 to qualify for the $600 annual wellness discount in 2021.

For additional questions, contact human resources at 336-747-6807.

2020 Biometric Screening

Biometric screening for 2020 has been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you did not complete your screening in early March 2020, you will NOT have to meet this requirement for the wellness discount in 2021. Please call Employee Medical at 336-727-2305 if you have questions.
