Method of Appointment 

The City Council, upon recommendation of the Mayor and the Forsyth County Commissioners shall each appoint nine members (five neighborhood representatives, two religious leaders, and two business leaders); in addition, there are organizational appointments; and membership by capacity appointments.

Authority for Creation 

The City Council by resolution recognized the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Coalition on Alcohol and Drug Problems as the primary advisory resource to the Board on matters relating to substance abuse on May 21, 1990.

Purpose / Function

The City of Winston-Salem considers the Coalition to be the primary advisory resource on matters related to substance abuse. The Coalition's mission is to reduce alcohol and other drug problems through a coordinated and committed community prevention efforts.
