Method of Appointment 

The Authority shall consist of seven members. Two shall be resident voters of the City of High Point-one appointed by the City Council, and the other appointed by the Guilford County Board of Commissioners. Two shall be resident voters of the City of Greensboro-one appointed by the City Council, and the other appointed by the Guilford County Board of Commissioners. One shall be a resident voter of the City of Winston-Salem and appointed by the City Council upon recommendation of the Mayor Pro Tempore. One shall be from Guilford County at large and appointed by the Guilford County Board of Commissioners. One shall be from Forsyth County at large and appointed by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners.

Authority for Creation 

The Greensboro-High Point Authority was duly created under and pursuant to Chapter 98 of the 1941 Public-Local Laws of North Carolina. Effective January 1, 1988, the name of the Regional Airport Authority was changed to Piedmont Triad Airport Authority as a result of legislation.

Purpose / Function

The Authority owns, maintains, and operates the Piedmont Triad Airport, and as such owns all real and personal property, acquires and sells land, makes contracts and leases, and makes all rules and regulations for the use, operation, and control of the airport. The Authority may incur debt and generally has all the rights and powers given to counties and municipalities by the State of North Carolina relating to municipal airports.
