The Winston-Salem City Council will hold its June 15 meeting virtually. The council had been planning to meet in person at the Benton Convention Center. However, the city has decided to move to an online meeting due to concerns about potential exposure to COVID-19 by a City Council member.

There will be no change to the call-in procedures previously announced for citizens who want to speak at the public comment period, the public hearing on the proposed 2020-21 city budget, or the proposed economic development assistance to Purple Crow/La Tortilleria.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and will be carried live on WSTV Digital Media (channel 13 on Spectrum or channel 99 on AT&T Uverse) and online through the city website or the city’s YouTube channel. To watch online, go to CityofWS.org and select the clapboard icon under the search box. There will be an option to watch live either through the website or YouTube.

Citizens who wish to address the council during the meeting should call 336-734-1397 starting at 6:30 p.m. Separate waiting queues will be set up for the public hearings and the public comment period. In keeping with the standard protocol for council meetings, all speakers will be limited to three minutes. Thirty minutes will be allotted for public comments. There are no time limits for the public hearings.
