NEWS RELEASE
Transportation Department
July 2, 2020

The city will hold two virtual workshops in July to collect public feedback on where the city should make improvements in sidewalks, crosswalks, greenways and other pedestrian infrastructure. The workshops will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, and 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15. Links to participate are posted at Winston-SalemWalks.com

At each meeting, city staff and consultants assisting with the study will go over some of the existing conditions for walking in Winston-Salem, and will be collecting input through live polling, an online input map and a chat box Q&A.

Early RSVP/registration is not required, but encouraged. Those who register in advance will receive a meeting reminder along with other project details in advance of the meeting.

An interactive input map has been posted at Winston-SalemWalks.com. Residents can use the map to identify areas where walking improvements are needed as well as identify key destinations that they would like to see connected by walking routes.

The Winston-Salem Pedestrian Plan, titled “Walkable Winston-Salem,” will build on past efforts to create a new vision for walking throughout the city. The plan will be used to prioritize, fund and build pedestrian infrastructure improvements.
