[ARCHIVED] National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic Violence Awareness Patrol Car

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. What is Domestic Violence? Domestic Violence is the willful intimidation that refers to physical, verbal, psychological, sexual, including emotional and financial abuse by one person against another. These forms of abuse are deemed domestic related when the victim and the suspect are related, dating, married, share a child in common, living together or have lived together or were in a former dating or spousal relationship.

Domestic Violence is an epidemic affecting individuals in every community, regardless of age, economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race religion or nationality. The frequency and severity of domestic violence is one partner's consistent efforts to maintain power and control over the other.  If you need to contact someone about Domestic Violence assistance is available.
