About Salem Lake

Salem Lake has been called the hidden diamond in the city of Winston-Salem. Located minutes away from downtown Winston-Salem, Salem Lake offers a 365-acre lake with a 7-mile trail that offers a scenic view of the lake at all times. The lake offers pier and boat fishing for:

  • Bream
  • Carp
  • Catfish
  • Crappie
  • Hybrid bass
  • Large mouth bass
  • White perch

Anyone 16 or older must have a North Carolina State Fishing License to fish at Salem Lake or Winston Lake.

Rules

  • No fishing is allowed from the banks of Salem Lake. Only pier and boat fishing are allowed.
  • The lake and trail close 30 minutes before the park closes. Please be off the lake and the trail so the park can be closed properly.
  • Do not feed the ducks or geese. Feeding the water fowl may be harmful to their health.
